Angela Soffe is an award-winning singer-songwriter and performer in Yakima, Washington. Known for her soaring vocals and gentle folk melodies, she has amassed a devoted fan base in the Pacific Northwest.
Her recent album, "Second Wind" was an independent move out of the quiet of personal darkness. The album won the nomination for Americana Album of the Year by the Independent Music Awards. Her new single, "Rocks" hit the ground running in 2018, winning the Great American Songwriting Contest 2019 and garnering the attention of music gatekeepers who noted that her poignant lyrics created a social stir.
Skope Magazine calls her music, "timeless, with a message that truly resonates.""We hear an artist that is breaking new ground in her own way" says Independent Artist Buzz. She and her 4-piece band, (Angela Soffe Band) perform Americana nuggets in every venue, bringing a breath of freshness to their fans. The band has garnered accolades and awards for performances brimming with understated roots music virtuosity, and boundless creativity.
Her songs follow a darkness into light journey and have been compared to the sounds of Allison Krauss and Natalie Merchant. The perfect blend of piano, folk guitar, chiming electric guitar, upright bass, harmonica and sweet mandolin. "Angela Soffe is likely one of the bravest souls we have encountered on this journey of Women In Music," says The Lola Sessions.
THE NEW ALBUM
In the wake of a pandemic, Angela Soffe is creating a new record with a new sonic direction with an all-female team, and this time, in Nashville, TN. She planned to make a record one year ago with producer Gena Johnson (former lead engineer at RCA studios). When the pandemic settled in, touring plans were cancelled and she spent the time writing and diving into what her fans were also experiencing and making those stories into songs. The 10 tracks on this record are a collaboration of anthemic singles with mature themes ranging from childhood loss to celebrating simple love. Each song is built with an Americana foundation, but leans into the pop world with piano ballads and soaring vocals. The record is an energetic force that immediately draws on human emotion. Angela describes this record as "a story about the Winter...presented by the Spring. It's mature, sexy, heartbreaking, driving, and makes you want to move at the same time."
*Gena Johnson production/engineer credits: "A Star is Born" Soundtrack, Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, Ashley Monroe, Amanda Shires, The Highwomen, John Prine, etc, nominated for Engineer of the Year Award by ACM Awards, lead engineer at RCA Studios.
The title song, "Bloom" won the First Place Grand Prize by the Great American Songwriting Contest in March 2022, and won the First Place Winning Title for the Folk/Americana category.
Angela is also CEO of Heroica, a business that sells digital products for ambitious mothers who want to rediscover their purpose and turn their passion into their income.
Angela was raised in the Philippines in an Argentine-American family. She now lives with her husband and 3 children, dog Baloo, and 6 chickens in Washington State.
